You can connect Instagram and Facebook to Zapstro for two different jobs: answering messages in the shared inbox, and publishing posts with Social Media (Business plan). Each one is authorised separately.
Before you start
- Instagram: use a professional account (Business or Creator). Meta may require it to be linked to a Facebook Page.
- Facebook: you need admin access to the Facebook Page you want to connect.
- Log in with the Meta account that manages these assets. You never type your social media password inside Zapstro; the login happens on Meta's own screen.
- Plans: Starter includes 1 Instagram. Facebook (and Telegram) are available from Growth.
Answer Instagram DMs and Messenger in the inbox
- Open Settings › Connections and add an Instagram or Facebook connection.
- Log in with Facebook and choose the Page or Instagram account you want to connect.
- Accept the permissions Meta asks for. If you untick a permission, messages may not arrive.
- Back in Zapstro, check the connection shows as connected and choose the sector where conversations should land.
- Send a test DM from another account and check it appears in the Inbox.
Your AI agent can answer Instagram and WhatsApp at the same time. Assign it to the Instagram connection once you've tested it (see Set up your AI agent).
Connect accounts for social publishing (Business)
- Open the Social Media app and go to the Posts tab.
- Use the option to connect Instagram, connect Facebook, or manage accounts.
- Sign in to the social network and choose the account, Page or channel you're allowed to manage.
- Return to Zapstro and check the account appears under connected accounts.
On Business you can also connect LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and Threads for publishing. See Social media scheduling and Creative Studio.
Comment-to-DM automations (Business)
In Automations › Instagram Automations you can reply to comments automatically and send a DM, for example when someone comments "price". Keep a new rule inactive, test it with one comment, and then switch it on.
If something stops working
- If you see a "needs reconnecting" warning, authorise the account again before publishing or replying.
- Changing your Facebook password or removing Zapstro's access in Meta's settings disconnects the account.
- Check you're still an admin of the Page.
- Still stuck? See Troubleshooting.
